Luxembourg Gardens and Museum (Monet Exhibition) in Paris

We arrive in Paris and have booked a balcony room, with views across the city roofs.

After checking in and a little unpacking, we walk through the Tuilleries Garden (between the Louvre and Place de la Concorde, across from the Musée d'Orsay), on our way to the Luxembourg Gardens on the other side of the Seine.

Crossing the Seine, we see the canal boats tied up several deep.

Musée du Luxembourg, at the edge of the Luxembourg Gardens is hosting an exhibition titled Léon Monet, showing the personal collection of Monet's brother who was a chemist, industrialist, and collector.  His collection of over 100 works includes paintings and drawings by Monet, Sisley, Pisarro and Renoir.

But, first, we stroll through the Luxembourg Gardens, one of our favorite places in Paris.

We exit the gardens at the far side from where we entered and walk the few steps to the museum.  Entering, we find ourselves immersed in impressionism, some familiar works and some new to us, although we know other works by the artist.

This is a great exhibition and leads to a number of interesting questions:  what must it have been like to be Monet's brother, visiting him and seeing and collecting his works?
