Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and Residence

The Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Residence, and Presidential Palace occupy Ba Dinh Square across from the Vietnam National Assembly.  Ho Chi Minh was Chairman of the Workers' Party of Vietnam from 1951 to his death in 1969 and in 1945 established the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.  The mausoleum was completed in 1975 and modeled after Lenin's Mausoleum in Moscow.

Behind the mausoleum and alongside the Presidential Palace, Ho Chi Minh lived in a stilt house by an  exquisite landscaped lake.  The spartan structure is charming, with the politburo meeting room on the ground floor and the bedroom and study upstairs.  Nearby is a museum with displays from the life of Ho Chi Minh, including his cars.

Just past the stilt hours is the Ho Chi Minh Museum, with exhibits from his life and from the history of Vietnam.

We leave the museum past pictures of Ho Chi Minh and of him at work in his office at the stilt house.
