Paris, France

With the restrictions on travel over the last 10 months, we're starting to run out of new places and adventures to share.  We do have a few trips scheduled over the next year and hopefully will be able to travel and then report back here.  Meanwhile, we'll take some trips down memory land and revisit our favorite spots in the world.

Right up near the top of the list is Paris, The City of Lights!  We try to get back every year (although we are unable to get there this year).  When we arrive in Paris, we almost always start with a walk along the Seine from the Grand Palais to Place St. Michel to get our bearings, reacclimatize, and to secure a great dinner, often at our favorite fondue restaurant : one cheese fondue (with potatoes and bread) and one with duck and steak that we cook in boiling oil.

After dinner, we walk back along the Seine.   It's always incredible to be back in Paris!

 Lights of the city

During the days in Paris, we walk and walk through the city, from l'Étoile to Musée Marmottan Monet, returning along the left bank to Jardin du Luxembourg, then back to the right bank and over to the Opera and the grand department stores on Boulevard Haussmann (Printemps and Galeries Lafayette), then over to the Champs-Élysées, and back to l'Étoile and the Arc de Triomphe.

And, the food!  From the chocolate croissants (pain au chocolat) for breakfast to the simple ham and cheese baguette sandwich (sandwich jambon-fromage) for lunch to the window shopping for dinner, popping in to an interesting-looking place and always having a great meal.  We could just live here and eat our way back and forth across the city.  And, occasionally, an incredible meal at a famous restaurant or a visit to a rising new chef.
