Florida Gulf Coast

Coming up the Florida gulf coast from Naples and Venice, we enter Sarasota, a charming town that formerly was the winter headquarters of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.

At the southern end of Tampa Bay, Sarasota includes several barrier islands with beautiful white sand beaches.  Also known for its cultural and environmental amenities, the town has great art scattered around.

Passing through Clearwater to the north, our next stop it the small town of  Port Richey, home, at one time, to Johnny Cash.  Everything here seems to be oriented around the waterways weaving through town.

Returning to Clearwater, it's soon time to head over to Frenchy's Rockaway Grill on the gulf for some great beach eating:  octopus and grilled grouper.
