Holiday in New York: Showtime on Broadway and Times Square

We're on our way to Broadway, to see The Book of Mormon.  Walking over to the Eugene O'Neil Theater on 49th Street, we get great views of Times Square in the rain.

Times Square a few blocks away

The Book of Mormon has won 9 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and has been called the funniest musical of all time" (Entertainment Weekly) and "the best musical of this century" (New York Times).  It is highly irreverent, but we love it and laugh and laugh.

After the show, we wander into Times Square, where the clock is counting down to the New Year and the preparations are coming together:  the first thing we see is the Charmin Restrooms, getting ready for the New Year's Eve crowd.

 Approaching Times Square

Charmin is ready

We think about where to go for the best view of Times Square and choose the Renaissance Hotel, right at the top of the square, for an after-show/pre-dinner drink and revel in the sights.

Across the street from our seat

As we head out onto the street, it is raining heavily again and we work our way through the forest of moving umbrellas, quite a big-city task.

We're on our way to find dinner.
