Reykjavik, Iceland

We spend a day in Reykjavik, Iceland, before setting off on a cruise around the island and visiting lots of small, interesting towns.  We peer out the window at breakfast and see a classic car show on the grounds of the Harpo Concert Hall across from our hotel.

Reykjavik is known for its colorful homes and unique architecture and we head out to see the sights after checking out the cars.

Near the concert hall, the harbor is full of fishing boats and pleasure craft.

We walk along the water, admiring the view across the water and the artwork along the way.

Returning to the concert hall, we go inside and explore this incredible building, home to the Iceland Symphony Orchestra and the Icelandic Opera.

We head away from the harbor, into Reykjavik's old town, with its charming streets and shops.

Into Old Town

The other side of Old Town, we reach the Hallgrimskirkja Church, a striking landmark and monument to the famous Icelandic poet Hallgrimur Petursson.  The church is stark and serenely beautiful inside.

This has been an interesting stroll through Reykjavik and we exit the church to seek out more of the city.
