Kalaloch Creek Nature Trail

Just up Highway 101, across from the Kalaloch National Park campground, the Kaloloch Creek Nature Trail provides a quiet forested walk on a well-maintained trail that initially follows creek, plunging quickly into the deep forest.   The trail passes huge, gnarled trees draped with thick moss, great eaxmples of the vegetation throughout this area.

Trail starts into the forest

The trail crosses several small streams that drain into the Kalaloch Creek, which itself soon empties into the Pacific Ocean

Crossing streams

The spectacular trees of the forest line the path, some standing straight and tall, some fallen and decaying (to become homes and nutrition for new trees).

Trees of the forest

We get quick glimpses of Kalaloch Creek through the forest, quickly disappearing as we move further down the path.

Views of the river

We really enjoy the stumps and bases of fallen trees, showing how big the trees originally were before they fell.

Stumps of once-great trees

The path circles around, heading back toward the highway, passing through more great forest.  We also start to notice the vegitation on the ground.

Returning to the highway

Soon we reach Highway 101 and follow it over Kalaloch Creek on our way back to the Kalaloch Lodge.

Crossing the creek

This has been an interesting exploration of Kalaloch Beach, the Tree of Life, and the Kalaloch Nature Trail, all a short walk from the Kalaloch Lodge.
